Final Exam Notes
I have not had time to typeset a solution for the final
exam that I can post here. I probably will not have time
to do so.
Please note that every problem was based on
either homework problems, or those that I discussed in class,
or both.
- Problem 1a was identical to assigned homework problem
17-18a. Problem 1b was identical to assigned homework
problem 17-62a.
- Problem 2 was identical to assigned homework problem 18-8
(and to quiz 13).
- Problem 3 was very similar to example 19-6 (and to quiz
15), and to homework problem 19-13.
- We talked about Problem 4 in class.
- Problem 5 was similar to homework problems in chapter 19.
See for example, problems 35 and 37.
- Problem 6 was just a variation of assigned homework
problem 19-17. The only difference between this
problem and 19-17b is the functional form of C(T).
You work it the same way. Also, have a look at assigned
problem 20-48, for a problem with the integral of C(T).
- Problem 7 was a simplified version
of assigned homework problem 20-8. In fact, if you
take the answer to 20-8 (which is given in the book),
and set Vd - Vd, you get the answer to this problem.
- Problem 8 was based on 20-43, but we worked this exact
problem in class.
I have set the curve for the final exam based on the fact that
the problems were nothing new, and should have been easy if you
had actually worked them in advance. The curve is not based
on the performance on the exam, which was sub-standard.
Here are the results:
